Family Home Theater, Bar and Wine Room

he client wanted to turn a basement with an existing bar and wine cellar into a complete family entertainment space. To do this, we had to transform an open game room into a formal home theater, complete with reclining leather chairs set on a jazzy geometric carpet. What makes a romantic theater like this come together is some serious Bling, and the wall sconces really deliver: gorgeous crystal sheaves wrapped in gold bands simply radiate light! We enclosed the original open entrance wall to make a snug acoustic space, and added Doric columns under the side arches on both sides of the room. By applying wainscoting to define the wall plane, we were able to upholster the upper and lower wall portions in coordinating black/gold velvet and grasscloth which highlights the handsome woodwork, but also balances and absorbs the sound from the new state-of-the-art A/V system.

Updated bar lighting and snazzy bar stools at the (now) ice cream and popcorn bar, as well as a conversion of the temperature-controlled wine room into a burgundy-hued family dining area, completed the makeover and kid-friendly concept.
